Our most basic finished Traveler, the Olive Drab Special has all the operational features sans the frills. It’s what you’d expect a government vintage rifle case to be built like, painted in two popular shades of olive drab. On the case body and trim you’ll find an early OD with more of a brown tint; on the inset you’ll find a greener shade. The two colors together add a little subtle drama vs. painting the case a single color. The paint is hand-brushed, so expect a bit of resulting texture in the finish. As for general appearance, think of an old army footlocker. There are no exterior markings included but these look great with stenciled names or numbers, ordnance markings, etc. Rifles of virtually any nationality look right at home inside. Inside you’ll find the Type II sliding bolster retention system. All contact points are upholstered to prevent scratching. Additional interior appointments are available or, like exterior personalization, can always be done by the purchaser. Included with every Traveler is a complimentary towel to wipe your weapon free of dust or excess oil. As with any Tennessee Traveler case, these are individually serial numbered and tagged. These also feature standard a bayonet retention system designed to be accommodative for almost any bayonet. We typically carry two sizes of this case. One is 46” long with a 45” inside width. The other is a “carbine” model that is 42”long with a 41” width. The 46” case (model U4608) is built to hold most main battle rifles of the two world wars which are under 45” in length. This includes but is not limited to the K98 Mauser, 1903/1903A3, both the Enfield No1 mkIII and No4 mkI, M1 Garand, Arisaka Type 99, and most any bolt action such as various Mausers that fit inside the 45” interior. Photos show most of these models seated in the same case. The 42” case (model U4208) is designed to hold weapons up to about 41” long. Great for lever action rifles such as the Winchester 94 and Marlin 336, among others. This is also a nice length for many “trench” shotguns and “riot” shotguns such as the Winchester Model 12..
